Woman Days


International women’s day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women on 8th march of every year. Gulzar Group of Institutes took a global action to accelerate gender parity on this occasion. On 8th march, 2017 it hosted an event with the theme of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ with an objective to generate new ideas, concepts, theories and ideologies for women empowerment. The jamboree took place at Guru Nanak Bhawan,Ludhiana. It commenced with the welcome speech of Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Director of Gulzar School of Management, which was followed by an invocation to light. This ancient tradition of lightening the lamp symbolizes the cosmic force or Divine Light. It stands for auspiciousness, prosperity and abundance.
The event was decorated by the presence of Ms. Apneet Riyait and  Mrs. Mridula Jain, ADC Development. MD Shingora, Textiles acted as the Key Note Speaker. S.Gurcharan Singh, Chairman of GGI and S Gurkirat Singh, Executive Director of GGI along with the staff hosted the chief Guest and other dignitaries which included Dr. Mrs Manpreet kaur (health care),Ms. Deepa (Journalism), Mrs. Karamjit Kaur (Sports), Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Soin (Social).
The Chief Guest of the event, Mrs. Apneet Riyait, highlighted the importance of the gala day and said, “It provides us an opportunity to recognize the monumental contributions of females to our society and it will help plant and spread awareness amongst the youth.”
MD Shingora opined that women should be appreciated, supported, and encouraged. He added that people should empower them and hear their voice as inequality is a societal problem, and it will take the entire society, working together, to fix it.
The co-curricular program was also organized by student’s groups and the college’s cultural department. It featured a wide variety of episodes like that of poetry readings, skit, mime and giddha. The performances were very apt to the situation which left the audience stunned and had a lot to depict about the status and importance of women empowerment. A very valuable skit was enacted by students of GGI on the theme of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ which was appreciated by everyone in the hall. A picture slideshow of one lakh people taking pledge was also a part of this happening which was further handed over to DC Ludhiana. Arrangements were also made for refreshment by the institution.
All the dignitaries were duly honored by the management of GGI. The program was well-received by the staff, students and people from the region. A vote of thanks was delivered by S Gurkirat Singh, Executive Director GGI. He concluded with the beginning of taking the pledge of  ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ and narrated the whole journey of how it got initiated going through the efforts of whole staff and students of GGI to reach more than one lakh people to create awareness among them about the campaign. To wind up, he thanked everyone and wished them International Women’s Day.
