Smart India Hackathon 2019 – Why You Should Join
Registrations are open till 20th January for Smart India Hackathon, 2019. The initiative, has seen many industries, corporate houses & public sector enterprises, participating with “problem statements and challenges”.
Started in 2017, by Ministry of Human Resources & Development, Government of India and AICTE. The Hackathon is open to students of engineering from all the AICTE recognized colleges in India.
A direct connect between Industry and students
With active participation by industry over the last two years, the platform is emerging fast, as a direct connect with students and colleges.
For students and faculty, the platform provides an understanding of desired skill set. This is expected to facilitate a more proactive role towards experiential learning.
Let us have a look at what kind of problems the Industry has posted. Thermo Fisher Scientific has the challenge on Healthcare and Bio Medical Devices. Mahindra on “agriculture and rural development, smart communication and App development”. Praj Industries on clean water. ABB on smart vehicles and smart cities. There are challenges on renewable energy.
The choice of problem statements is really diverse. For example, Drone Doctor by ITC relates to Robotics and Automation.
The problem statements in Smart India Hackathon 2019, by more than 500 companies, helps students to understand engineering challenges better.
Reading each challenge, opens your mind to opportunities. In addition, these make you more informed, on what you, as an engineers can do.
